WinClip Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026
Summary
WinClip processes all data locally on your device. It does not collect analytics, telemetry, or personal information. The only network connections are optional update checks and Pro license validation.
Data Collection
WinClip does not collect any data. Specifically:
- No analytics or telemetry of any kind
- No clipboard contents are transmitted off your device
- No personal information is gathered, stored, or shared
- No cookies or tracking mechanisms are used
- No usage data is logged or reported
Clipboard Data
WinClip monitors clipboard activity locally to provide its core functionality (copy/paste gestures and text actions). All clipboard data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere. Clipboard history (Pro feature) is stored only in local memory and is cleared when the application closes.
Settings
User preferences (theme, sound, excluded processes, license information) are stored locally in a JSON file at %APPDATA%\WinClip\settings.json. This file never leaves your device.
Network Connections
WinClip makes network connections only in the following cases:
- Update checks: Optionally queries the GitHub Releases API to check for new versions. This is a read-only request that transmits no personal data.
- Pro license validation: If you have a Pro license, WinClip validates your license key with the Gumroad API (
api.gumroad.com). This sends only your license key and a locally-generated device ID. No other personal data is transmitted. If the network is unavailable, a 30-day offline grace period applies. - Web Search action: If you use the Translate, Web Search, or Dictionary Lookup actions, your selected text is sent to the configured search engine in your default browser. This is initiated by you and visible in your browser.
No other network connections are made.
Blip Integration
WinClip includes an optional integration with Blip for sending clipboard content to other devices. This integration communicates directly with a locally-installed Blip application. No data is sent to WinClip servers. Blip's own privacy practices apply to data sent through Blip.
Extensions & Plugins
WinClip supports third-party extensions via its plugin SDK. Extensions run locally and are loaded from your filesystem. WinClip does not control or monitor what third-party extensions do. Review each extension's privacy practices before installing.
Third-Party Services
WinClip does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services.
Children's Privacy
WinClip does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
